Jordan Peitzman

head coach & owner

All programs at Precision Submission Grappling are led by highly respected Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, Jordan Peitzman.

For over a decade, Jordan has been a driving force in the Des Moines Jiu Jitsu community as a practitioner, coach, competitor, and promoter of the grappling arts. His dedication to growing and advancing the sport has earned him widespread respect and cemented his influence in the Jiu Jitsu culture of Iowa and the Midwest.

Jordan has designed and led thousands of practices, coached countless athletes to success both on and off the mats, and competed in more than 200 matches. His coaching stands out for its clarity and effectiveness: he excels at breaking down complex movements and strategies into simple, task-based focuses, helping students of all ages progress quickly and confidently.

Specializing in No-Gi Jiu Jitsu, Jordan employs a constraints-led approach to skill development. Instead of rote memorization, students engage in task-based “games” that encourage exploration, problem-solving, and understanding the “why” behind every movement. This method empowers students to discover their own solutions while mastering the core principles of grappling.

Jordan’s passion for the grappling arts began with high school wrestling, pro wrestling, and the UFC, and turned into a lifelong pursuit when he started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2013. Before founding Precision Submission Grappling in 2024, Peitzman spent nine years leading programs for youth and adults at No Coast Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Peitzman is also the founder of the Midwest’s premier no-gi Jiu Jitsu and submission grappling tournament, Sub Spectrum.

jesse son

assistant kids coach

Coach Jesse was born and raised in South Korea before moving to Iowa in 2011. Although he’s a relative newcomer to Jiu Jitsu, he holds a Black Belt in Taekwondo and brings over five years of experience coaching kids in martial arts.

He sets a strong example for students in our program, emphasizing respect, discipline, and consistency. While he expects effort and attention to detail, he brings a playful energy to every class to make sure every kid has fun.

His goal is to help children grow not only as athletes, but as confident, respectful young leaders both on and off the mats.
